We will populate this area with relevant news as warranted. In the meantime, we're keeping the content below from our mayoral race for now. Too much work was done by too many people to relegate all that good information to the "delete" file.
Toledo City Councilman and Mayoral Candidate Tom Waniewski held a press conference on Thursday, August 10th at 11:00 am at One Government Center to release his strategic plan. The plan contains Waniewski’s mission and vision for the city, various policy proposals, a brand promise for Toledo, short term and long term action items and metrics to measure success.
The excitement in downtown Toledo is truly exhilarating as ProMedica employees begin to move into their new downtown campus located in the Junction and Steam Plant along the Maumee River. As I drove by on Summit Street on my way to city council chambers last week, I was reminded of just how much we owe our former Mayor D. Michael Collins for his passion to work with our local business community to make this downtown revitalization a reality.
Over the last 30 days I’ve made several significant announcements about how my administration will manage the issues that matter most to the citizens of Toledo. Each time we roll out a new part of our strategy, one of my Democrat opponents manages to sneak a quote into our local paper or publish a remark on social media where he feebly attempts to hold me accountable for the current administration’s handling of city funds. This “one trick pony” strategy is a perfect example of what we don’t need in city politics. In fact, this deceitful habit of distorting the facts instead of dealing with the issues that our citizens deserve to hear about during this important election campaign is downright shameful.
